THE SOUNDHOUSE CHOIR CELEBRATES THEIR FIRST DECADE

The 2026 Soundhouse Winter Festival’s fabulous opening event. The Soundhouse Choir will be filling the Traverse Bar with a glorious riot of song.

Begun in 2016 by local singing legend Heather Macleod, the Soundhouse Choir has dazzled and delighted singers, and audiences, with joyful vocal arrangements of musical works across the genres ever since. They have weathered through the ups and downs of life, and covid, and continue to grow their numbers each year. Choir members raise their voices and their spirits each week, and many have found new friends and new confidence into the bargain.

The choir’s set will feature a varied slice of songs that will show you what they like to sing.

‘It’s really lovely and fitting that this concert, which celebrates ten years of Soundhouse Choir also celebrates our partnership with the Soundhouse Organisation. Watching it all grow and become such an active and important part of Edinburgh and Scotland’s rich musical landscape is so rewarding,’ says Heather. ‘Within the choir itself, I see many firm friendships form and have made many of my own too.  It’s an incredible and ever-changing (albeit very large!) living organism that moves and breathes with life itself, simply because we sing together. It never fails to be a joy!’
